  1. What is Shibari?

    • Shibari is the Japanese art of rope bondage. It involves tying up individuals in intricate patterns using ropes, with aesthetic and sensual purposes.

  2. Is Shibari Safe?

    • Yes, when practiced correctly, Shibari is safe. We prioritize safety in all our classes and workshops, teaching proper techniques, communication, and risk-awareness to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience.

  3. Do I Need Experience to Join a Class?

    • No prior experience is required for our beginner-level classes. We welcome participants of all skill levels, from complete novices to experienced practitioners looking to refine their skills.

  4. Does Shibari require me to be fit and flexible?

    • Beginner shibari is genrally accessible to those with any level of fitness. Advanced Shibari on the other hand can be unexpectedly demanding on the body, requiring a moderate to high degree of flexibitly, core strength and pain management skill.

  5. How should I prepare for my first class?

    • Shibari requires a great deal of spatial reasoning and learning, so come prepared with plenty of water, eat a healthy diet and have plenty of rest being ready to learn.

  6. What Should I Bring to a Class?

    • Participants should bring comfortable clothing suitable for movement and being tied. We recommend bringing your own rope if you have it, although we do have some available for use during classes.

  7. Is There a Minimum Age Requirement?

    • Yes, all participants must be 18 years of age or older to visit our studio.

  8. Can I Bring a Partner to Classes?

    • Absolutely! We encourage partners to attend together. However if you are solo, feel free to explore our self tie workshop options.

  9. Are Classes LGBTQ+ Friendly?

    • Yes, Bound Studio welcomes individuals of all gender identities and sexual orientations. Our classes are inclusive and welcoming to everyone.

  10. What if I Have Physical Limitations or Mobility Issues?

    • Please inform our instructors of any physical limitations or mobility concerns before the class begins. We will do our best to accommodate your needs and provide alternative tying methods if necessary.

  11. Can I Take Photos or Videos During Class?

    • Yes! But for privacy and comfort reasons, consent must be aquired by all parties prior to recording or taking photos. We do on occasion have photographers and content creators at the studio and will work around anybody who wishes not to be filmed.

  12. Do You Offer Private Lessons?

    • Yes, we offer private lessons for individuals or small groups. Please contact us directly to schedule a private session tailored to your specific needs and skill level.

  13. Do you accomodate heavy persons?

    • So long as you are capable of standing and/or sitting on the floor for extended periods of time, heavier persons may still find shibari enjoyable. Please note that our floors are hard and we are unable to make any significant accomodations at this time.
