Love Notes

  • To say that our experience at Bound Studio was life changing would be an understatement.

My husband and I attended a couples retreat to learn about shibari, something we'd tried before with little success. Matt and Tori were amazingly warm and welcoming at the open of the retreat and all throughout. Their knowledge and teaching ability helped my husband and I discover an aspect of our relationship we didn't even know existed, and opened our eyes to a new way to manage stress and build deeper bonds and communication as a couple. I would absolutely return in a heartbeat, and I hope they consider holding an intermediate retreat in the future. Their emphasis on safety, comfort, and communication shone throughout the intensive sessions over the weekend. The space is easy to get to, and once you're inside you're transported to a calm, serene state of mind with the decoration.

One thing that stood out to me in particular was how the retreat began teaching us about ties--starting on the bamboo poles that hung in the space meant little to no pressure on the couples who might be trying this out for the first time, and it meant both partners had a chance to practice the ties and understand how they worked. When the time came for the ties to be performed on our partners, I had absolute confidence in our ability to tie the ropes, but how to do so safely and how to remove them at a moment's notice.

  • My wife and I did the Bound Together Couples Getaway

weekend. Unfortunately I woke up not feeling well the final day and couldn't attend. The class itself is very well organized and formatted. You will leave with a bunch of new skills and an abundance of confidence. Matt and Tara are absolutely amazing people. Definitely someone you would want to hang out with. We will be returning to finish up the lessons we missed and exploring more into Shabari in private lessons.
