FAQ

  • What is the Bound Session?

Our Bound Session is a dedicated 2-hour boudoir shoot focusing on the ar6s6c applica6on and photography of rope on the human form. This session may involve tradi6onal Shibari 6es, decora6ve body work, crea6ve rope configura6ons, and even suspension techniques, tailored to your comfort and ar6s6c vision.

  • How do I prepare for the session?

Please arrive with your chosen outfit(s) and have your hair and makeup ready. This preparation helps us maximize our session time focusing on the creative aspects of rope photography. We will have a creative phone call prior to your shoot to discuss your vision.

  • Can I bring somebody?

For rope boudoir shoots, you are encouraged to bring a partner or trusted friend with you to the shoot to assist you with any wardrobe, makeup, hair or anything else you might need. My wife, Tara is usually present as an assistant.

  • Do I need to bring rope?

Nope! We will provide all necessary materials for the rope application, using natural-colored rope. If you prefer to use colored ropes, feel free to bring them along to the session.

  • Can I do suspension?

This depend on your prior exerience. We usually recommend if you are a complete newbie to shibari to only start off with what is called a partial suspension (part of the body still touching the floor). There are many things that can go wrong emotionally, mentally and physically in a full suspension even under the care of a professional, so it is best to work your way up to it.

  • What is your process for discussing a possible suspension?

A general health & safety screening is required for suspension. Not everyone may be suitable for suspension photography with us, and we reserve the right to modify or decline certain suspension requests for your safety. Partial suspensions may be suggested as alternatives.

  • What about aftercare?

Aftercare services are not provided by our studio except in personal cases with my wife or close friends. We recommend bringing along your partner or a trusted friend to assist with any aftercare needs, particularly if your goal is to experience suspension rope work. We allocate the last 20-30 minutes of the session for this purpose.

  • What are your safety protocols?

Ensuring your safety and comfort during our sessions is our highest priority. We always have a thorough conversation to ensure that we fully understand your experience and that you are a good fit for the rope experience that you re seeking.

  • What about consent?

Seeking consent is mandatory policy for our studio, and especially for rope applications. Our staff will always ask for your verbal consent prior to any rope application.

  • How many photos should I expect?

Generally, expect 8-12 photos from this photoshoot. Tying rope for photography is complicated and time consuming. For more straightforward scenes, expect to get 8-12 shots and for complex ties (including suspensions) expect fewer (around 6-8)
